What color is the official June birthstone?
I just picked up my class ring. I ordered the June birthstone thinking it was going to be a smoky purple, but my stone looks green. What is the June birthstone's actual color supposed to be?
Its alexandrite: a change-colour stone which is green in natural light and purple (up to light violet) under artificial light. Most alexandrites on the market are laboratory made, as a natural alexandrite is terribly expensive. That's why the colour as well as the stone's ability to change colour may vary, depending on where you got the stone and how much you paid for it.
