my mother suggested that i get a ring with my own birthstone as well as his birthstone instead of the usual diamond ring. by the way, this is our second marriage
my birthstone is january/garnet and his birthstone is october and depending on where you go, its either opal or pink
by the way, money is no object, he's willing to buy a diamond and thinks this is a good idea though if thats what i want, he said i'm wearing the ring, so he wants me happy for the decision i do.
My own engagement ring is four stones--the birthstone of my parents' anniversary month, my birthstone, his birthstone, and the birthstone of his parents' anniversary month.
We felt it was a nice way to honor our parents and the influence they had on our choice in a mate. They were great models of how great a marriage can be.
I say go for it. My fiance wasn't sure at first if it would really make me happy not to have a big diamond, but now he knows it has because there is so much more sentimentality with this ring.

GUYS: Would u consider buying your girl a ring with her birthstone or opt for a traditional diamond?
GIRLS: Would u like receiving a ring with your birthstone or do u think it's inappropriate?
I think it all depends on each individual preference. Personally my husbands birthstone was diamond. So for us it was a romantic choice to have my birthstone included.
On my Ring I have the diamond for my husband and then my birthstone in a smaller size to each side of it. It is lovely and romantic - means more sentimentally to us because we know what they stand for. My husband also has both of our birthstones in his ring too.
If it weren't for my husband having diamond as his birthstone I would not have wanted mine though. The wedding ring is about the couple not just about one person. So if both of your birthstones are not included it really doesn't make too much sense. I wouldn't think that just hers is such a nice idea. the wedding/ marriage isn't just about her. It's about the TWO of you becoming one. JMO

I'm proposing to my girlfriend soon, and I'm considering getting a ring with her birthstone (ruby) as the main stone and smaller diamonds around the ruby. My thoughts on that are it's a little more personal than just a diamond. now my question. girls, would you prefer just a diamond, or a ring with your birthstone and smaller diamonds?
okay.. diamonds are traditional.. and the purists will want that. more modern and unique women.. we love our birthstone. or the stone for the month of the proposal.. the month you hope to marry in. yours and hers birth months mixed.. that is wonderful too.
remember, the other stones, they tend to chip and get beat up more often than diamonds. insurance against damage is needed..
congratulations!

I've always had this thing for guys wearing rings (as in i find it wierd. Im a guy). But waht do girls think?
Im thinking of getting a ring, but what kind? What gem stone? I like emerald, but my birthstone is Topaz.
Silver, simple rings on men are hot...but gold on a guy looks bad (my opinion-and i work in fashion industry so listen to me:))
So no stones,..keep it silver and simple and you'll rock;)

Blue topaz rings make perfect presents for anyone born in the month of December but anyone can enjoy these lovely cool-colored gems. The wonderful thing about this particular birthstone is that it is quite varied. Color is the key behind choosing the right item from the blue topaz rings.
Color is a certain quality that is so very important to a piece of jewelry. The blue topaz gemstone is unique in that it comes in a variety of shades of this cool hue. The right shade that is right for your setting depends on a number of different factors. The first factor is pretty apparent.
The first step to choosing which of the blue topaz rings is ideal is quite simple. You have to consider who is going to be wearing the item. There are many different shades of blue and one color isn’t going to appeal to everyone. In order for blue topaz rings to look perfect, the wearer has to love the color.
How many different shades of one color could there possibly be? Lots; actually, there are countless shades of hues for just one simple tone. The good news is that gemstone tones come in a handful of choices for you to consider. Blue topaz rings have three basic shades. This may bring you a great sigh of relief.
The first is the classic blue topaz rings. This color is clear and clean and pretty light. It is reminiscent of the sky on a cloudless day or the clear blue water on an island beach. This is a favorite among people who love light colors and airy spaces. These pieces of jewelry are perfect for a day at the beach.
Those who love sophistication and bold statements may prefer the royal blue topaz rings. These gems are fantastic for rich, decadent designs and dressy occasions. This color is deep, dark and dreamy. The royal blue topaz rings are ideal for an elegant event like a formal wedding or the red carpet.
Teal is a favorite color among those who love the woods. This tone offers subtle hints of green in the blue topaz rings. This ring is ideal for anyone who loves to long hikes among the trees and forest greenery. This is also a great choice for redheads who look stunning in anything that has green undertones.
When shopping for your green topaz rings, your first consideration should be your own personality and style. You may even find that all of the shades appeal to at least one aspect of your self.
